PC System Requirements

ArcheAge Chronicles needs at least Windows 10, an Intel Core i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER or AMD Radeon RX 6600 (8 GB) and 100 GB on an SSD, for 30 fps at 1080p on Low with upscaling on Quality. The recommended PC (Windows 11, Core i7-12700 or Ryzen 7 5700X, 32 GB, RTX 4060 Ti 16GB or RX 7700 XT) targets 60 fps at 1080p on High.

To run ArcheAge Chronicles, Steam asks at minimum for 64-bit Windows 10, an Intel Core i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER or AMD Radeon RX 6600 with 8 GB of video memory, DirectX 12 and 100 GB of space on an SSD, which XL Games says targets 30 fps at 1080p on Low settings with upscaling set to Quality mode. The recommended PC is 64-bit Windows 11, an Intel Core i7-12700 or AMD Ryzen 7 5700X, 32 GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB or AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT (12 GB), for 60 fps at 1080p on High settings with the same upscaling. Ser Medieval reads the lists in his Oct 18, 2026 video before the demo and adds his own experience of the September Network Test: a few hiccups and frame rates that sometimes dropped, but mostly smooth play, and a viewer who played on High settings with an older 30-series card "just fine". These are the requirements Steam lists for the game itself (app 3218230), as of Oct 20, 2026; the free Demo has its own, slightly higher list, below. The game runs on Windows only.

Steam's store page for ArcheAge Chronicles lists these two columns, copied here as written on Oct 20, 2026. Both require a 64-bit processor and operating system, and both ask for 100 GB of space with the note "SSD required".

Minimum Recommended
OS Windows 10 64-bit Windows 11 64-bit
Processor Intel Core i5-10400 / AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Intel Core i7-12700 / AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
Memory 16 GB RAM 32 GB RAM
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER / AMD Radeon RX 6600 (VRAM 8GB) NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB / AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT (VRAM 12GB)
DirectX Version 12 Version 12
Storage 100 GB available space 100 GB available space
Notes SSD required. Targets 30 FPS at 1080p on Low settings with upscaling set to Quality mode. SSD required. Targets 60 FPS at 1080p on High settings with upscaling set to Quality mode.

The targets are modest by design: even the recommended PC aims at 1080p, not 1440p or 4K, and both lists assume upscaling is on. XL Games has published no list for higher resolutions or for ray tracing, as of Oct 20, 2026.

The demo and the Microsoft Store list higher specs

The three official lists do not agree. The Steam Next Fest demo (app 5280930) asks for more at the low end: an Intel Core i5-12400 or AMD Ryzen 5 5600, 16 GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, with no AMD card named and no frame-rate target; its recommended column is the main game's processor and memory with an "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti". The Microsoft Store's page for the Xbox and PC version, still credited to Kakao Games, lists an RTX 2070 Super and an Intel Core i5-12400 or AMD Ryzen 5 5600 as its minimum. The main Steam app's list is the newest word on what Early Access will need; if your PC sits between the lists, the free demo is the quickest test before it ends on Oct 26, 2026.

Download size and storage

Steam asks for 100 GB of free space on an SSD, but the download itself has been much smaller. Azrial, in his guide to the free demo of Oct 12, 2026, puts the requirements on screen and recalls that the September Network Test was roughly a 42 GB download that took around 48 GB once installed; he advises leaving extra room because the final size was not confirmed. Ser Medieval also expected a 42 GB demo download, and MeinMMO gave the demo as 38.1 GB on Oct 20, 2026. Early Access will add two more regions to the demo's one, so expect the full game to grow toward the space Steam reserves. A hard drive is not supported: both of XL Games' lists say "SSD required".

Performance and graphics settings

ArcheAge Chronicles is built in Unreal Engine 5 (XL Games' State of Play trailer of 2024 and Inven Global, Oct 19, 2026), and creators found it heavy. FrozenCloud, reviewing the Network Test on Sep 14, 2026, says the game "performs like" an Unreal Engine 5 game, "not great out of the box": on an RTX 5080 with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D at maximum settings and 1080p he saw 70 to 80 fps standing in the early areas and needed 2x frame generation to pass 100. His advice is to expect it to run heavier than most games on other engines and to be ready to turn settings down. He also praised the look: a full day and night cycle, sharp lighting and shadows, and mostly good underwater visuals.

Not every complaint in the Network Test was the hardware's fault. Ser Medieval opens his Sep 14, 2026 review by saying his own footage looked worse than the game should, with "massive frame drops" on a high-end PC that he puts down to not updating his NVIDIA drivers before streaming; others in the world chat reported the same. Updating graphics drivers is the first thing to try. MeinMMO, which played the demo on its first evening, had no issues "apart from the slightly choppy performance at times". Executive Producer Yongjin Ham wrote on Oct 18, 2026 that XL Games will "keep improving combat, balance, and performance" on the way to Early Access, so these numbers describe test builds, not the release.

DLSS, FSR and upscaling

Both of Steam's lists target their frame rates "with upscaling set to Quality mode", but neither names a technology. XL Games has not said whether ArcheAge Chronicles supports NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR, Intel XeSS or its own upscaler, nor whether frame generation is offered, as of Oct 20, 2026. FrozenCloud's "frame generation 2x" shows that some form of it was in the Network Test's settings, but he does not name it, and this page will not guess. Unreal Engine 5 games often include more than one option; check the graphics menu of the demo.

Controller, Steam Deck and anti-cheat

Steam lists full controller support, and MeinMMO recommends playing the demo with a controller, finding the game "better optimized for that than for mouse and keyboard" (Oct 20, 2026). Valve has not rated the game or the demo for Steam Deck: both show no Deck compatibility rating, as of Oct 20, 2026. Steam's store page also notes that the game uses XIGNCODE3, a kernel-level anti-cheat with its own license agreement; kernel-level anti-cheat often keeps games off Linux and the Steam Deck, but whether it does here is untested, and XL Games has said nothing about the Deck. There is no Mac or Linux version on Steam. The console versions are covered on Platforms and Crossplay.
