Warrior
The Warrior is the ArcheAge Chronicles sword class, "Hold the Line. Break the Enemy.", fighting with a Longsword (parries, counters or a path of blood that spends and drains HP) or a Greatsword that builds Resolve for heavy blows such as Final Cleave, Rampage and Warrior's Cry.
The Warrior is the sword class of ArcheAge Chronicles: it fights with a Longsword or a Greatsword under the motto "Hold the Line. Break the Enemy." The Longsword is about timing, parries and counters, or "the path of blood", which spends your own HP for damage and drains it back from the enemy; the Greatsword builds Resolve and spends it on heavy blows such as Final Cleave, Rampage and Warrior's Cry. XL Games' class reveal, as MMORPG.com reported it on Jul 10, 2026, ties the class to Kyrios, "the God of Destruction", a soldier who mastered every weapon he used. In his class guide of Oct 5, 2026, Azrial calls the Warrior the easiest class to understand at first glance but says "the basic sword class" undersells it. It is one of four Classes.

Longsword
The Longsword offers two paths, according to MMORPG.com's report of XL Games' class reveal (Jul 10, 2026). The first is about timing, precision and control: defending and parrying incoming strikes to put pressure on the enemy, with skills such as Closing Clash and Bladeburst, which uses energy to strike enemies up close and at range. The second is "the path of blood": you sacrifice part of your own health for heavy damage, then take HP back from the enemy, in a repeating cycle.
Creators who played the Network Test describe the same split. Ser Medieval said on Sep 14, 2026 that the Longsword is built around draining the enemy's HP to raise your own vitality, or a more refined flow through empowered parries, and he ranked it level with the Ranger's Hatchet as his favorite weapon in the test. Azrial's advice is that a player who likes watching enemy animations and timing encounters should start with the Longsword.
Greatsword
The Greatsword changes the pace: you advance through enemies, withstand their attacks and build Resolve, then spend it on heavy blows such as Final Cleave, Rampage and Warrior's Cry. Azrial sums up the difference: the Longsword rewards reacting to the enemy, the Greatsword rewards building momentum and forcing the fight forward. FrozenCloud (Sep 14, 2026) described the Greatsword as focused on charged attacks for heavy single hits.
Traits
Every weapon has its own trait tree, and XL Games' Global Project Manager Don used the Greatsword as his example on Oct 15, 2026: "two players who both pick up the Greatsword can have completely different playstyles." One takes the damage branch, unlocking Armor Break and turning Sunder into Sweeping Slash, which hits twice with a broader cleave; the other takes the defensive branch for Pummel Strike, an attack usable while guarding that grants a shield to absorb damage. The post also says the Longsword and Greatsword trees are "completely separate". Trait points come from Raeven's Coilstones, not levels; see Progression and Traits.
In PvP
XL Games' first PvP clip (Sep 4, 2026) shows a Longsword Warrior in a blue coat dueling a Ranger on a sunny path of ruins; the clip's own description reads "The Ranger throws an axe. The Warrior parries it, sending it straight back." Creative Director Jay Lee wrote on Oct 4, 2026 that the Longsword Warrior in that footage was him, and the Ranger with the hatchets was Executive Producer Yongjin Ham. Ranged attacks can be parried and reflected, which makes the Longsword's parry a tool against archers and casters too. PvP happens only in PvP channels; see PvP.
The third weapon
XL Games has promised a third weapon for every class before full release but has not named the Warrior's, as of Oct 20, 2026. Creators saw a third weapon on the Network Test character screen, locked: Azrial read it as a Gladius and, from the tree he could inspect, expects shield attacks including a thrown shield, with poison and fire damage over time. That is a creator's reading of a test build, not an announcement, and the third weapons are not in the demo.
Is the Warrior good for beginners?
Creators call the Warrior the most approachable class. In his demo guide of Oct 12, 2026, Azrial says it is the easiest class to understand but not just a basic sword class: the Longsword leans into parries and counters, and the Greatsword builds and spends Resolve, so it suits players who like melee where timing matters. Its melee range also keeps it close to the action of Combat, where enemies' red attacks must be dodged rather than blocked, as FrozenCloud reported.
Gender
The Warrior is male only at Early Access, as Ser Medieval reported from the Network Test on Sep 14, 2026; XL Games has not stated each class's gender in writing. XL Games says every class stays gender-locked at Early Access and that more gender options will come later, "starting with select classes", with no date as of Oct 20, 2026. See Character Creation and Gender Lock.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Warrior good for beginners in ArcheAge Chronicles? The ArcheAge Chronicles Warrior is the class creators call easiest to understand: a melee sword fighter whose Longsword parries and counters and whose Greatsword builds Resolve for heavy hits. Its depth comes from timing those parries.
Should I use the Longsword or the Greatsword in ArcheAge Chronicles? In ArcheAge Chronicles, the Longsword suits players who like reacting to the enemy with parries and counters, or draining HP on the path of blood, and the Greatsword suits players who like building Resolve and landing heavy blows. The Warrior carries both and can swap in combat, so you do not have to choose only one.
Can the Warrior block in ArcheAge Chronicles? Yes: the ArcheAge Chronicles Warrior can guard and parry, and a parried ranged attack can be sent straight back, as XL Games' PvP clip shows. The Greatsword's Pummel Strike trait even adds an attack usable while guarding.
Is the Warrior male only in ArcheAge Chronicles? A creator reported from the Sep 2026 Network Test that the ArcheAge Chronicles Warrior is male only. XL Games says classes stay gender-locked at Early Access and plans more gender options later, starting with select classes.
What is the Warrior's third weapon in ArcheAge Chronicles? XL Games has not named the ArcheAge Chronicles Warrior's third weapon, as of Oct 20, 2026. Creators saw a locked weapon they read as a Gladius on the Network Test character screen.

ArcheAge ChroniclesArcheAge Chronicles is XL Games' open-world action MMORPG set in Auroria 50 years after the original ArcheAge, formerly announced as ArcheAge 2. A free Steam Next Fest demo runs Oct 19 to 26, 2026, and Early Access on Steam is planned for later in 2026 with no date announced, as of Oct 20, 2026. -
ClassesArcheAge Chronicles has four classes, Warrior, Ranger, Berserker and Mage, each with two weapons at Early Access (eight in all) and a third weapon per class planned. You swap between your two weapons in combat, and every weapon has its own trait tree. -
Progression and TraitsIn ArcheAge Chronicles you level mostly from quests, discoveries and points of interest; each level gives stat points for six stats (Strength, Agility, Constitution, Intelligence, Talent, Endurance). Trait points come only from Raeven's Coilstones, each guarded by a boss, and every weapon has its own trait tree; Nui Tears raise max HP at Nui Statues, and field bosses and chests give gear.
-
PvPPvP in ArcheAge Chronicles is opt-in by channel. In standard channels nobody can attack you; in PvP channels anyone outside your party and guild can, you switch at a Nui Statue with a cooldown, and PvP channels give 10 to 15% bonus EXP on monster kills but no reward for killing players yet (XL Games, Oct 4, 2026).
-
CombatArcheAge Chronicles uses action combat, not tab targeting: light and heavy attacks, dodges, rolls, blocks and parries on a stamina bar, two weapons you swap between in a fight, and skills reached through button combinations instead of a hotbar of dozens of slots. Ranged attacks can be parried straight back at the attacker. -
Character Creation and Gender LockIn ArcheAge Chronicles you can take a pre-made character or build your own with detailed sliders, but each class is locked to one gender, and XL Games says that stays at Early Access; more gender options are in development, "starting with select classes". No playable races have been announced, as of Oct 20, 2026.
