Dungeons

ArcheAge Chronicles dungeons are instanced just for you or your party of up to four, share quest progress inside, and can be soloed (XL Games, Oct 15, 2026). Raids are on the Early Access content list, but their size has not been announced as of Oct 20, 2026.

Dungeons in ArcheAge Chronicles are instanced "just for you or your party of up to four", quest progress is shared inside, and "you can take one on solo if you'd rather", Global Project Manager Don wrote on Oct 15, 2026. XL Games' own tour of Sep 7, 2026, "A Quick Look at Auroria", walks through a carved stone door into a dungeon whose name, Altar of Seals, appears on screen, and fights through it with the full game interface. Raids are also on the list of what Early Access will contain, but XL Games has not said how many players a raid takes, as of Oct 20, 2026. The free demo, until Oct 26, 2026, has one dungeon made for it, the hidden Throne of Hinnon.

A smoky stone hall lit by fire. Iron cages hang from the ceiling. At center a huge, swollen monster with several snarling heads, glowing green eyes and a round shield-like plate strapped to its belly towers over a fighter in black armor who leaps at it with a large wing-shaped blade. Thin dark figures with burning yellow eyes run in from both sides, one reaching forward with clawed hands at right. Fires burn along the walls. No game interface is shown.

How dungeons work

A dungeon is a private copy for you and your group, inside an open world shared with many more players. In his demo guide of Oct 12, 2026, Azrial explains that parties in the September Network Test held up to four, while the open world around them is split into channels of about 100 players; some places, dungeons and some points of interest among them, are instanced for you or your party alone, and he found that quests progressed for everyone in the party, so nobody had to repeat a step for a friend. Ham's letter of Oct 18, 2026 lists quest sharing for party members and clearer paths and clues in dungeons among the changes made for the demo. Parties, channels and guilds are on Multiplayer and Guilds.

Dungeons are one of several tests of your build. Don's progression post of Oct 15, 2026 names them alongside field bosses, the fights at the end of story quests and Hersander's Tower: a hard dungeon is meant to send you back into the world for trait points before you try again, not to make you grind levels. How that works is on Progression and Traits.

You do not need a group. XL Games wrote in 2024 that "outside of progressing the main story, most PvE encounters can be accessed as both a solo player as well as a full-fledged party", and Kyunghyang Games reported clearing a multiplayer dungeon alone in the demo, finding that party play mattered little early on (Oct 20, 2026).

Dungeons seen so far

The demo added one dungeon to what the Network Test had. In XL Games' video of Oct 7, 2026 (Korean speech with English subtitles), Executive Producer Yongjin Ham says the Steam Next Fest demo brings a new dungeon and PvP on top of the Network Test content. That dungeon is Throne of Hinnon, which XL Games calls a high-level dungeon outside the demo's normal quest path, opened with a key hidden somewhere "that won't be easy to find" (Oct 18, 2026).

Throne of Hinnon is entered through a door at the Altar of Seals. In Ser Medieval's guide of Oct 20, 2026, the key opens a door at the Altar of Seals, where the Bound Tyrant is fought; he suggests being at least level 8 or 9 and bringing a full party because the enemies are elite, and four sigils must be activated on the way to the final boss. The key's hiding place, the route and the boss have their own guide page.

Other dungeons appear only in creators' footage of the Network Test, an older build. Anders' 30-minute capture of Sep 14, 2026 has chapters titled "Altar of Seals", "Pirate Hideout Dungeon" and "Cliffs of Madness Dungeon", with bosses he names the Bound Tyrant, Mad Anchor Krogal and Poldat. These are his chapter titles from a test build; XL Games has not published a list of dungeons, as of Oct 20, 2026.

Raids

Raids are on the Early Access content list ("exploration, dungeons, raids, PvP, housing, crafting, trading, and company and guild activities", the Steam FAQ says), but their size is not announced as of Oct 20, 2026. XL Games' descriptions have changed over the years: its developer diary of Oct 10, 2024 promised "twenty-player raids" and "open-world raid bosses", and the PlayStation Blog the same year described raid bosses for "a team of ten or more players"; in a Wccftech Q&A of Aug 1, 2025, XL Games said instanced PvE was "built around 2-5 player teams" rather than large raid groups. In 2026 the only figure given is the dungeon party of four. Treat any raid size as unconfirmed until XL Games states it for Early Access.

Bosses and the Hereafter Challenge

Dungeons end in boss fights built for a group. XL Games' tour closes on a party fighting a boss in a golden hall while the developers say: "You're not doing any of this alone, unless you want to be. If you come across an enemy you can't take on alone, team up with players around you and take it on together." Field bosses in the open world, bosses that guard trait points and dungeon bosses are compared on Bosses.

The hardest fight in each zone is not a dungeon but the Hereafter Challenge: satisfy every Hersander's Tower in a zone and you fight a random "souped-up" version of one of that zone's bosses against the clock, with clear times on a leaderboard (XL Games, Oct 15, 2026). The towers have their own page.
