Hersander's Tower
Hersander's Towers, hidden in every zone of ArcheAge Chronicles and named for Hersander, "the god of gambling", each ask in a riddle for an item. Satisfying every tower in a zone gives a unique accessory and unlocks the Hereafter Challenge, a timed fight against a random souped-up version of one of the zone's bosses, with a leaderboard of clear times (XL Games, Oct 15, 2026).
Hersander's Towers are riddle shrines hidden in every zone of ArcheAge Chronicles: each tower describes, in a riddle, an item it wants, and once you have satisfied every tower in a zone you receive a unique accessory and unlock the Hereafter Challenge, a timed fight against "a random souped-up version" of one of that zone's bosses whose clear time goes on a leaderboard. Global Project Manager Don explained the system in XL Games' progression post of Oct 15, 2026: "Hersander is the god of gambling, and he's a little particular about his offerings." XL Games has not published the riddles or their answers, and this page does not guess them. The challenge is, in Don's words, "the culmination of everything you've been doing throughout the zone".

The towers
Every zone "hides a set of Hersander's Tower", Don wrote, and the towers hold "some of the toughest challenges each zone has to offer". XL Games lists them with field bosses, story fights and dungeons as the places where your build is put to the test (Oct 15, 2026). The towers appeared before the demo: Anders' 30-minute capture of the September Network Test, an older build, has a chapter titled "Hersander's Tower" at 12:56, played as a Ranger.
The Hersander of the towers is not otherwise explained in XL Games' English posts as of Oct 20, 2026; the only description is "the god of gambling". The wider world and its lore are on Auroria.
The riddles
Each tower "gives you a riddle describing the item it wants. Sometimes the answer is just down the road. Sometimes it's somewhere you'd never look unless you were really paying attention." (XL Games, Oct 15, 2026). XL Games has not said what the items are, how many towers a zone holds or whether the riddles change, as of Oct 20, 2026.
Finding the answers means exploring, because the game marks little on the map. FrozenCloud, reviewing the Network Test on Sep 14, 2026, says the game "does not hold your hand": quests are only marked once you are near the town or character that gives them, collectibles that raise your HP at the god statues are not shown on the map (a stone icon appears only when you are close), and "the game requires curiosity". The same design runs through XL Games' description of progression: chests hidden "behind the waterfall you almost didn't check", Coilstones in the open and out of the way. How exploring makes you stronger is on Progression and Traits, and travel by glider and on foot on Exploration and Gliders.
The reward
Satisfying every tower in a zone gives "a unique accessory" (XL Games, Oct 15, 2026). Its stats, and whether each zone's accessory differs, are not published as of Oct 20, 2026. Accessories also drop from field bosses, the same post says.
The Hereafter Challenge and leaderboards
Completing a zone's towers unlocks the Hereafter Challenge: "Hersander then challenges you with a random souped-up version of one of that zone's bosses. The clock is also running. Your clear time goes on a leaderboard, so you're competing against other players to see who can take it down the fastest." Don calls it the moment of losing to a boss, getting stronger and returning, "with the difficulty turned all the way up". Which bosses each zone holds is on Bosses.
Leaderboards were already in the Network Test build. Ser Medieval, who found the test's early bosses easy once he knew their patterns, said on Sep 14, 2026 that leaderboards were "already implemented" and expected much of the game's challenge to come from them and from later content. XL Games has not said whether the Hereafter Challenge is solo, for a party or both, or whether leaderboards are split by region or class, as of Oct 20, 2026.
Tips
- Read each riddle closely and look off the road: XL Games says the answer can be nearby or somewhere "you'd never look unless you were really paying attention".
- Build up before the challenge. Trait points from Raeven's Coilstones and max HP from Nui Tears both come from exploring the same zone (XL Games, Oct 15, 2026).
- Learn the zone's bosses first. The challenge picks one of them at random and makes it harder, so knowing their patterns matters; the dodging and parrying this calls for is on Combat.

ArcheAge ChroniclesArcheAge Chronicles is XL Games' open-world action MMORPG set in Auroria 50 years after the original ArcheAge, formerly announced as ArcheAge 2. A free Steam Next Fest demo runs Oct 19 to 26, 2026, and Early Access on Steam is planned for later in 2026 with no date announced, as of Oct 20, 2026. -
AuroriaAuroria is the land of ArcheAge Chronicles, the continent of the original ArcheAge's lore, rediscovered in "the Age of Pioneers" about 50 years after the original game. Early Access has three of its regions, Diamond Shores, Gylden Ruins and Astron Plains; the demo is set in Diamond Shores, and no full map has been published, as of Oct 20, 2026. -
Progression and TraitsIn ArcheAge Chronicles you level mostly from quests, discoveries and points of interest; each level gives stat points for six stats (Strength, Agility, Constitution, Intelligence, Talent, Endurance). Trait points come only from Raeven's Coilstones, each guarded by a boss, and every weapon has its own trait tree; Nui Tears raise max HP at Nui Statues, and field bosses and chests give gear.
-
Exploration and GlidersAuroria is built to be wandered, XL Games says: few map markers, points of interest and chests that give most of your EXP, a glider you earn through quests, swimming and underwater gathering, and Nui Statues that creators report double as fast travel points. Mounts are not confirmed, as of Oct 20, 2026. -
BossesArcheAge Chronicles has field bosses that roam the open world and drop gear and unique crafting materials, bosses that guard Raeven's Coilstones (the source of trait points), dungeon bosses, story bosses, and a timed, souped-up boss fight with a leaderboard in each zone's Hereafter Challenge (XL Games, Oct 15, 2026). -
CombatArcheAge Chronicles uses action combat, not tab targeting: light and heavy attacks, dodges, rolls, blocks and parries on a stamina bar, two weapons you swap between in a fight, and skills reached through button combinations instead of a hotbar of dozens of slots. Ranged attacks can be parried straight back at the attacker.
