Housing and Farming

Housing returns in ArcheAge Chronicles in dedicated housing zones split into channels, so every player can claim a home without the original ArcheAge's land rush; a claimed home stays in place for you and your neighbors, and interiors and exteriors can be customized. Housing is in Early Access but not in the demo, and farming is promised but not yet described, as of Oct 20, 2026.

Housing returns in ArcheAge Chronicles in dedicated housing zones, each split into parallel channels, so that every player can claim a home without the land rush of the original ArcheAge; once you claim a home in a channel, it stays there for you and your neighbors, and you can customize it inside and out. Housing is on the Early Access content list but is not in the free Demo (Oct 19 to 26, 2026). Farming is promised but has not been described, as of Oct 20, 2026. Housing has been part of the plan since the game was called ArcheAge 2: in Kakao Games' interview of Nov 18, 2022, Jake Song, then head of XL Games, calls housing one of the original's signature life activities and says (in Korean) that ArcheAge 2 would carry it on with more customization and with housing towns that like-minded players and guilds could build together. That last idea later changed (below). Housing is one of the life skills of ArcheAge Chronicles, beside Crafting and Life Skills and Trade Runs.

Housing zones and channels

ArcheAge Chronicles puts homes in shared housing zones that exist in the world, each copied into several channels. XL Games explained it to Massively OP (Aug 1, 2025): the system is "not fully open-world in the traditional sense" nor "instanced in the solo, private-phasing way", but "a channel-based system that allows for shared, persistent housing zones", closer to the neighborhood housing of other MMOs. "Once you claim a home in a channel, that becomes your version of the space, and it persists for you and your neighbors." The goal is to keep housing social while "solving some long-standing issues like overcrowding, land sniping, and limited availability." Azrial, after the Network Test (Sep 14, 2026), recalls XL Games saying housing will sit in the shared world rather than in its own instance, and says the test's large quiet areas made him imagine player homes and farms there; he also says he does not know whether those areas were meant for housing. Which regions hold housing zones, how many homes a zone holds and how many channels there are has not been announced, as of Oct 20, 2026.

Building and decorating

Homes are built and customized, inside and out. Executive Producer Yongjin Ham wrote on the PlayStation Blog at the reveal (Sep 24, 2024) that housing would be "a cornerstone feature, enabling players to build and customize their own homes", in "dedicated housing zones where players can showcase their creativity and achievements." His Jul 31, 2025 letter promised "Shared housing areas. Decor you can actually interact with." XL Games posted a housing reveal video to X and Discord in July 2026, which Massively OP reported on Jul 30, 2026. Placement rules, upgrade paths and how housing ties into the economy were promised in "a dedicated housing deep dive" in 2025; it has not been published as of Oct 20, 2026.

Houses are crafted. In his Network Test review (Sep 14, 2026), Ser Medieval says the test's crafting tree showed housing beside the other professions: "different houses that you can craft, the stations, all that stuff", and he expects "a detailed housing system". In the same breath he recalls the housing as open world; XL Games' own description is the housing zones above. Housing construction itself was not playable in the test.

Housemates

Who shares your home has changed between announcements. The Oct 10, 2024 developer diary said: "You can also meet housemates to share and personalize your living space together," which reads as other players. Ham's Jul 31, 2025 letter instead promises "NPCs who feel like housemates, not decorations." The 2025 wording is the later one. Whether friends can also share or co-own a home has not been said, as of Oct 20, 2026; XL Games' Aug 2025 Q&A with Wccftech says the system "supports shared spaces, neighborhoods, and persistent zones where you can live alongside other players," including "living next to your friends".

Farming

Farming is promised but not yet described. In XL Games' "Developer Diary - Our Vision" video (Oct 10, 2024), a developer says (in Korean, with English subtitles) that many fans remember the original, so its popular content returns: trade, and housing and farming in a form that is more fun and has its strengths reinforced. The Steam store lists farming among the life skills ("hunting, gathering, housing, farming, and crafting"), the 2024 PlayStation Blog post names "farming, crafting, and trading", and XL Games told Massively OP in 2025 that housing keeps "gardening" among its social and creative parts. What you grow, where (at home or on separate land), how long crops take and whether they can be stolen has not been announced, as of Oct 20, 2026.

Guild towns

Guild housing towns were part of the ArcheAge 2 plan in 2022 but are not part of Chronicles as described since. XL Games' Aug 2025 answer to Wccftech: "While we aren't offering full player-built cities or territory control in the traditional MMO sense, the system is designed to foster community," and the focus "has shifted from territorial ownership toward personal expression, meaningful community-building, and stability." The PlayStation Blog in 2024 still spoke of players coming "together to form vibrant, town-like communities". Guild features are covered on Multiplayer and Guilds.

What changed from the original

The original ArcheAge (2013) placed homes on open-world land (the "previous open-world model", as Ham's 2024 PlayStation Blog post puts it), which led to what XL Games now calls the "land rush issues that created frustration in the past". Chronicles moves homes into zones with channels so supply never runs out, and drops territory control. Those changes, and the wider shift away from the original's sandbox, are on Differences From ArcheAge.

Can I farm in ArcheAge Chronicles? Farming is listed among ArcheAge Chronicles' life skills, but XL Games has not described how it works, as of Oct 20, 2026.

Is housing in the ArcheAge Chronicles demo? No. XL Games said on Oct 1, 2026 that housing and trade are not in the ArcheAge Chronicles demo; housing comes with Early Access.

Can I live with friends in ArcheAge Chronicles? XL Games says ArcheAge Chronicles' housing zones let you live alongside other players, including next to your friends. Whether friends can share one home has not been announced, as of Oct 20, 2026.
