Mounts and Sailing

Neither mounts nor ships are confirmed for ArcheAge Chronicles, as of Oct 20, 2026: the Early Access content list names no mounts, sailing or naval combat. You travel on foot, by glider and by swimming, and haul trade goods by wagon.

Neither mounts nor ships are confirmed for ArcheAge Chronicles, as of Oct 20, 2026: XL Games' Early Access content list on Steam ("exploration, dungeons, raids, PvP, housing, crafting, trading, and company and guild activities") names no mounts, sailing or naval combat, and no official post has described them. What you can do is walk, glide, swim and drive a Trade Wagon. Ser Medieval noticed the gap while reading the FAQ aloud before the demo (Oct 18, 2026): "they didn't specifically mention mounts," though "we have seen in previous footage that mounts do seem to be available," and he hopes they arrive alongside the gliders. Pets have not been mentioned at all. This page lists what has been said and shown, and nothing more; travel itself is on Exploration and Gliders.

Mounts

The only mount ever shown is a horse in a trailer. XL Games' State of Play trailer (Sep 24, 2024) shows a rider on a horse in a town at 0:28, and sailing ships off a burning harbor at 1:10. The trailer is in-engine cinematic footage without a HUD, not captured play, and it came out two years before the current Early Access plan. No mount has appeared in XL Games' captured-play videos of 2026, and MeinMMO's demo review (Oct 20, 2026) notes that "you have to walk from A to B yourself (no auto-run)." Whether mounts come later is not known, as of Oct 20, 2026.

Ships and naval combat

Ships were named once and have not been shown in play. In XL Games' Aug 2025 Q&A with Wccftech, the developers said "features like trading, crafting, sailing, housing, and progression are still very much part of the game", often "with updated mechanics or new structures". The Early Access FAQ a year later lists trading, crafting and housing but not sailing. Anders, introducing his Network Test footage (Sep 14, 2026), lists what testers could not reach: "the entire life skill system, trade routes, ship building, PvP." That is a creator's list of locked systems; XL Games itself has not announced ship building, as of Oct 20, 2026.

Naval combat has never been described for ArcheAge Chronicles. Azrial, in his Network Test review (Sep 14, 2026), lists it among the original's systems missing from the test: "We didn't properly experience housing or even farming, trade runs, the playdriven economy, or even naval combat." In the same review he says XL Games has confirmed housing, farming, gathering, crafting and trade runs; he does not count naval combat among them. The free Demo has no boats.

Pets

XL Games has not mentioned pets or companion animals for ArcheAge Chronicles, as of Oct 20, 2026.

Gliders and wagons instead

Gliders and swimming are how ArcheAge Chronicles gets you places you cannot walk to. In "The Direction the Devs Are Taking" (Oct 7, 2026), Executive Producer Yongjin Ham says (in Korean, with English subtitles) that you can ride the glider to areas you could not otherwise reach and find unexpected places while exploring underwater. Demo players earn a glider through quests, according to MeinMMO. Ser Medieval reported fast travel between Nui Statues in the Network Test. Goods move by wagon: XL Games' "Trade Run Gameplay" clip (Sep 4, 2026) shows a convoy of Trade Wagons on a forest road; see Trade Runs.

A motion-blurred image. At left a dragon with ridged horns, open jaws and bronze scales lunges through a wall of orange fire over broken wooden beams and rooftops. At upper right a small figure hangs beneath a glider with two long, narrow striped wings against a cloudy blue sky. No game interface is shown.

The original's ships, for context

The original ArcheAge (2013) was known for naval warfare and sea trade, and Chronicles leaves much of that behind: XL Games said in 2025 that large-scale PvP and "territorial conquest" did not suit its new direction. What else changed is on Differences From ArcheAge, and the original's history is on ArcheAge Series.
